Heather is a patient, warm, enthusiastic and talented teacher. She provides an individualised approach to teaching children the piano and takes into consideration their personality, preferences and strengths when teaching them. Heather has a warm, respectful, encouraging, patient and responsive demeanour and has a strengths based approach to teaching that puts children at ease when taking direction from her. Her ability to build a strong rapport with her students and their parents is a strength of hers. My eight year old son has been learning the piano with Heather for about one and a half years. He had many developmental challenges Including poor fine motor coordination and cognitive challenges as well as major anxiety when he was younger, however in the past 18 months we have seen major improvements in his confidence, fine motor skills and overall academic skills and I believe that learning the piano from such an amazing teacher has played a part in these improvements. Heather collaborates with me frequently and openly to help my son learn and enjoy the piano and get the most out of each lesson and practice session. My son absolutely loves the piano and looks forward to his lessons each week.In addition to her amazing approach to her students, I find Heather to be passionate about music, and that passion carries over into how she runs her lessons. During my son’s lessons she has mentioned workshops she has attended to improve her already thorough understanding of teaching techniques and music knowledge and skills and carries the knowledge she has gained into the lessons with my son. She balances her gentle, warm approach with a no nonsense approach to ensure he has a thorough technical, theoretical and practical knowledge of music and the piano.Heather is a well rounded music teacher who has an amazing level of musicality as well as a holistic approach to teaching. I would definitely recommend Heather as a piano teacher for any child and adult.

I am overwhelmed at the progress my daughter has made since beginning lessons three terms ago. Heather's approach has been specific to my daughters interests and her musical learning needs. As a result my daughter loves her Wednesday night lessons, remains enthusiastic and engaged, and is desperate to play more challenging pieces.
